Meet John Holley!

John Holley serves as Dean for Technologies at Calhoun Community College, where he provides strategic leadership and administrative oversight for the college’s applied technologies and workforce development division. In this role, he is responsible for managing a multi-million-dollar operating budget, ensuring sound fiscal planning, accountability, and effective stewardship of public resources while supporting more than 20 high-demand technical and workforce programs that serve students and industry partners across North Alabama.

John is widely recognized as a responsible and effective steward of public funds, bringing disciplined financial oversight and long-term planning to both higher education and K–12 governance. As an elected member of the Morgan County Schools Board of Education, he has played a key role in strengthening the system’s financial foundation, supporting responsible budgeting practices, and ensuring that local and state tax funding is used efficiently to advance student achievement and system sustainability.

In addition to his institutional leadership, John is actively engaged in regional economic and community development. He serves on the boards of the Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce, the Morgan County Economic Development Association, and the Community Foundation of Greater Decatur. He is also an Association of Career and Technical Educators (ACTE) NextLevel Postsecondary Fellow, reflecting his commitment to advancing career and technical education at the state and national levels.

John holds an earned Master of Business Administration (MBA), which informs his approach to organizational leadership, fiscal management, and strategic decision-making. His professional background also includes experience in mechanical contracting, providing him with a practical, industry-informed perspective that strengthens his leadership of technical education programs.

A native of Morgan County, John was born in Decatur and raised in Morgan County. He began his education at the former Neel Elementary School and graduated from  (A.P.) Brewer High School. A proud product of Morgan County Schools and Calhoun Community College, he continued his education at Athens State University and Faulkner University, reinforcing his lifelong commitment to learning and public service.

John and his wife of 31 years, Tracy, live on and operate a working cattle farm in east Morgan County with their son, Spencer. His leadership is shaped by deep community roots, faith-based service, and a strong commitment to education and responsible public stewardship.

“I am running for Revenue Commissioner because I want to bring my experience, accountability and leadership to the office and serve the citizens of Morgan County.   It will be my priority to make doing business with this office as easy, transparent, convenient and accessible as possible.  I want to put my conservative values and integrity to work for Morgan County."

As Revenue Commissioner John holley will:

Maintain accountability, integrity, and efficiency in the revenue commissioner’s office.

Continue to Cut wasteful spending and ensure accountability of tax payer dollars.

Make doing business in the office more convenient, easy, accessible and efficient.

Bring integrity, conservative values and leadership to the office

Continue to Cut the bureaucratic red tape and open communication between

departments

Implement 21st technology and solutions to increase efficiency for public and

online access
